While President Bush is pushing a FISA bill to get even more power to spy on Americans, Senators Chris Dodd and Russ Feingold are leading the fight against the FISA expansion and telecom immunity. Hundreds of members of TrueMajority/USAction called in to tell them thanks in their own words.
Now, together with Citizen Action of Wisconsin and the Connecticut Citizen Action Group we're running radio ads in the Senators' home states thanking them for their leadership.
Thank you for all your work to stop the Democrats from caving in on telecom immunity. Last week, we won yet
another improbable victory. Members like you sent over 29,000 emails and made over 15,000 calls to your Senators
opposing immunity for phone companies that spied on Americans.
Senator Feingold has recorded a special thank you message to TrueMajority members for all your work.
We won! You signed our petition calling on Burger King to pay workers just one penny more per pound of tomatoes and our
partners at the Coalition of Immokalee Workers delivered over 80,000 petitions directly to Burger King Headquarters in
Miami. Now, together with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, we've won a huge victory for workers in the tomato fields
of Florida -- and we showed the power of a grassroots effort in winning benefits for workers.
We will continue to follow this issue as the workers continue to expand their victory. Thanks again for all
you did to make this victory a reality!
And here's a photo of Lucas Benitez, left, of the CIW and Amy Wagner, Senior Vice President for Global Communications of Burger King, signing the agreement to work together to improve farmworker wages, and working conditions, while Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) looks on.
